Vieux Quebec
Historic part of Quebec City, which was founded in 1608. The upper part, referred to as 'Upper Town' (Haute-ville) is walled with ramparts and makes Qubec the only remaining walled city north of Mxico in North America.
A large mountainous plateau dominates the park's landscape. It's home to some of Qubec's loveliest glacial valleys, including a spectacular one that the Jacques-Cartier wends its way through. This river, calm in some places and turbulent in others, has cut a trough over 550 metres deep into the plateau. Up on the highlands is a boreal forest of yellow birch, sugar maples, and black spruce. Here, nature is both inspiring and serene

During the 20th century, the area also became a popular tourist destination, based on a cottage and lake culture in the summer, and a downhill and cross-country ski culture in the winter. Ski resorts include St-Sauveur and Mont Tremblant.
The majesty, power and stark beauty of the river are legendary. From Saint-Fulgence to the ST LAWRENCE RIVER, the river flows through a deep gash in the Precambrian rock, about 2 km wide and over 275 m deep in places, with cliffs rising 500 m above the river.
