What is love??

What is it that when ever one finds love and thinks that it is the real thing the person that means the most to them goes and stabs them in the back leaving them bleeding confused, alone and in pain. Is there ever a love out there that dosn't leave someone in pain and betrayed? If not does that mean that there really isn't such a things as LOVE AT FIRST SIGHT!
