Lake Chad
Disiaster in the Making
Lake Chad is a large freshwater lake in northern Africa. It's fed mostly by monsoons. It is rapidly draining due to Unregulated irrigation, Rapid damming of the smaller tributaries. Groups like the LCBC are exploring ways to restore water to the lake by diverting water from a nearby basin.
Niger, Chad, Cameroon, and Nigeria will face loss of wildlife and a huanitarian disaster. The people of those countrys will suffer conflicts, migration and lack of water. The fishing and agriculture industries will suffer hard.
