Soldier on the hill is a facinating book about a boy, his story and experince in Biscuit Creek. It is set in 1942 when the Japanese were invading Australia. The boys name is Joey, he used to live in Sydney with his mum, (Feemie) when he went to Biscuit Creek to stay with his Aunt Lallie for a while.

Joey is the main character, this is his story. Joe is Joeys friend but Joe is much older than Joey. Myrtle is Joeys friend that goes with him to Joes house. Miss Tidcombe is an old lady that is the only one that believes Joey in the start. Lallie is Joeys aunt. Feemie is Joeys mum. The Jap soldier is the soldier on the hill. Joeys dad is well... his Joeys dad.
