According to the legend, when there were only fairies and magical creatures in the world, there was once a Kingdom ruled and populated by white fairies. They were beautiful for their clear colour made everything shine (or so they would think). In those times and in that kingdom they had the terrible habit of scaring people by telling them tales of a black fairy kingdom full of darkness and dispair... As the years went by, and with the years the centuries, these little white creatures would not pay any attention to those old tales anymore. But there was one little fairy, who didn't like the boring life in just one colour much, who refused to believe they were the only ones and that that far away black kingdom didn't exist. One day, tired of the limits of her life, she decided to go and explore so as to check if it was true there was a black little world like hers. Despite her fellow white fairies warnings, who loved her as much as a fairy can love, off she went to the Universe. She travelled night and night , for in the universe there's no daylight, and with this change of colour was she happy!. After a long time searching, when she was about to give up and go back home (if she ever could find her way back) there it stood: the most beautiful black world no one could ever have imagined. With its beautiful black faries: big and small, with wide wings and narrow wings... Exactly like her own world but just in another beautiful colour that was anything but scary. It happened that she went down and decided to see how they would welcome her. It also happened that they celebrated her visit by cooking for her the best fairy dust. They danced black fairy dances and told black fairy stories about far away white kingdoms full of beauty and magic. She was so happy for the first time in such a long one that she couldn't help it but fall in love with one of the black fairies. It might be that faries have a special fate that favours them if they have a good heart that the black fairy responded to her love. They were so happy together for so long... but oh distance! It can be so cruel sometimes. Our little white fairy felt she had to see all those who loved her as much as a fairy can love and said she wanted to go home for a while. Her black fairy sweet love said he was going with her to wherever she might travel, and off they went. Little they knew about the White Fairy Kingdom and its rules and fears. No sooner they tried to enter the Black Fairy was caught and put in a cage as if he was a beast. The white fairies were scared and wild and they started poking him with their wands and calling him names I would not dare to repeat here. The little White Fairy was taken to court and severely punished by being imprisoned in the very deep dungeons of the very tall castle of that very nasty kingdom. She couldn't use her magic there nor could her beloved in his cage. It happened though that love, as it is nowadays, is the most powerful force that anyone can think of. She wasn't only loved by the imprisoned Black Fairy but by all those little white fairies that, even being scared and not knowing what to think of the newcomer they trusted their love for her and decided to take the risk of losing their wings by helping her out. They took her out of the dungeons with no effort for they were clean of any guilt and could use their magic freely. Once our Little Fairy was saved they set off to help her lover and there they went to his cage. They arrived at the very moment his wings were about to be chopped off. -STOP! That's such a terrible mistake!. -She cried with all her might. -Why? He's evil and he'll attack us !. -Replied someone in the crowd. -Evil? Why? What could a single fairy do against all these fairies here? Not even if his magic was more powerful could he do anything against all of us. - There was a silence, not all the fairies there disliked the newcomer, they were just scared of what they had been told without even stopping to think by themselves what risks could there be in seeing a fellow fairy painted in a different colour. One little white fairy was ruminating these thoughts in her mind when she decided to step forward (or fly forward to be more precise) and share it with the rest. - What does it matter the colour of the fairy? They are the same as us! They have essentially the same things: a body, two wings and a wand. We live here and they live there, they never tried to hurt us in thousands of years why would they now??. We treat other creatures living in our kingdom as part of it, we accept they are here and that we have to live with them. Why is it different for a black fairy who's come to visit us for the only reason that matters in life which is that of pure love??. What type of beasts are we that treat the newcomers like this instead of showing them how good our land is and their inhabitants are? The crowd was silent and all of a sudden most of it started shouting things. The fairies who were on the side of our protagonist were a bit confused... but little by little they started understanding what the crowd was shouting about: -SET HIM FREE! HE'S HARMLESS! HE'S OUR FRIEND OUR FELLOW FAIRY! SET HIM FREE AND LET HIM GO WHEREVER HE PLEASES... The king of the fairies was furious, but everybody knows that when the majority thinks the same that should be carried out as quickly as possible. So our little Black Fairy was set free and he flew straight to his beloved side. He then spoke: -Thank you for understanding. I know us faries sometimes don't deal very well with changes and with what is different but in the end our common sense teaches us lessons and we reflect about things and decide what's fair and what should be done. From now on let's just be one group and live together in harmony with the land and the rest of the creatures around us!. Let's travel to each others kingdoms and share knowledge, and share friendship and love and fairy dust. With this everybody left to carry on with whatever they were doing before the arrival of the two Little Faries. Both kingdoms started good relations and many fairies moved to live in the other kingdom just to learn new things, to see a different colour and to enjoy freedom to decide what to do at any time. Our Little Black and White faries lived happily ever after and had many gray beautiful little fairies. Then there weren't just two colours but three, being the new one the colour of the ocean when it's about to rain. Have you ever seen a colour more beautiful than that? I love you as far as the Black Fairy Kingdom Happy Birthday!
