Chapter 9
Meyer Wolfsheim
''So we beat on, boats against the current, borne back ceaslessly into the past.'' This quote means that we, as people, will always be fighting for something. Something will always be holding us back, but we have to keep fighting.
Meyer Wolfsheim is a friend of Gatsby's. He was one of the few people that expressed concern when he dies, but he is a very shady character, up to his ears in trouble.
In this chapter, we see the funeral scene. Nick is in charge of most things after Gatsby is dead, and he is bombarded by letters and calls. Gatsby's dad shows up and tells Nick a bit more about who Gatsby WAS before. Hardly anyone actually comes to the funeral. Nick leaves New York.
'Meyer Wolfsheim? No, he's a gambler.... He's the man who fixed the World Series back in 1919.'
