"I stepped over the ledge, and flew, and learned more than I did all my life."
Lastly, and I cannot re-iterate this enough. Hold on to whatever is dear to you. Look introspectively and figure out what is dear to you. And when you do that, remember, that no matter what, never, ever let it go. Hold onto it as if your life depended on it because at the end of the day, it does. Hold onto it, so that you can choose where you're going to go or want to be. Hold onto it, to withstand the tide and face the darkness, because, at the end of the day, it will be the only thing that will.
Question is, what's left when you do? How do you pick up the pieces? My answer. Find comfort in pain. We all wish that we could have changed decisions. This regret burns within us like a ravenous fire. Yet, how you face this. How you come to terms with what you've done and the regret; whether you've run, or you've stood to withstand the tide, is what determines who you are. What you are. This will be your meaning. I am a coward. I let my meaning be determined by powers outside of my control and don't take charge of what I do or I'm meant to do. Yet, I hope you are wiser. I envision that now, realising all this and acting upon it, you will have the chance to choose between Heaven and Hell.
Sometimes, it's important that we never forget certain 'things'. The most important things we take for granted. Things which without realising it, we tarnish. And when we lose those things, they're most likely gone. Forever. And that, is the worst feeling in the world. When realisation dawns on you; the moment you realise that you've let something go. That something you were looking for was right in front of you and you let it go. My advice? Never let it go. You will forever rue the day that you did. And why? Simply because you realise. That without that 'thing', you don't want to go on. That you've given up a part of yourself. Your soul? Perhaps. You realise that your life is empty. Something is missing and that, my friends, will torment you till kingdom come. Never betray the part of you which holds onto something dear. Never betray that something dear.
Life. Is interesting. Now I'm not here to write a philosophical piece designed to make you think about it once it's done. Frankly, I don't have the ability, or the capability. I'll get straight to the point instead of taking you, the reader, on a ride of tautological bullshit.
Life is littered with potholes and bumps. The point is, knowing not only how to avoid them, but learning from the ones you trip over. Essentially, learning from your mistakes. One thing you have to remember all along this oh so magnificent journey called life, is that even 'heroes have the right to bleed' (yeah, I'm quoting from a song. Go ahead. Sue me.). No matter how grand you get, you are human. At the end of the day, unfortunately that's all you'll be; a foolish, feeble mortal. Yet, here's the beauty: You are human. You can reach out. Touch someone else. Make their lives just that much more worth living. We don't wear silly red sheets, and fly with clouds between our knees. Our capacity to reach out to others. Appeal to their humanity, is what makes us real heroes.
