Social Justice?
What is social justce? People having all the same rights an equal chances at everything! People will not be put down for their different races.
How do we use social justice in this world? We have courts that give people/criminals a chance and not just killing them or punishing them. We give people an equal chance and we say that all races get the same equal rights.
In To Kill A Mockingbird, Atticus helps Tom Robinson in his time of need when people did not treat black people as well as they should have done. People would call Atticus names and tell him he was a negro lover and teat him as if he was dirt or if he was a African American like Tom Robinson.
Bias?
What is bias? People who have a preference towards another group of people that are either like them or they like. They will shun away people of other groups of different people than them.
Do we have bias now? Bias today is not as common as it was before but still we have it today. People treat each other like they are better than everyone else. Some people use bias to keep themselves higher on the food chain. Some put other people down to bring theirselves up.
In To Kill A Mockingbird Mr. Ewell and the other towns people have a very big grudge against the African Americans. The towns people were going to try and kill Tom Robinsonbut Atticus is in the way and will not let them through.. The bias part of the situation is the towns men do not want to have different people to be able to ''take over'' the courts and the law officials.
Prejudice?
What is prejudice? People who discriminate against individual people in a group. People are usually prejudice because they judge the book by their cover. People who stereotype against other people for who they think they are.
Do we have prejudice now? We still have prejudice people, definately! Some people think they are higher than others and better than the rest of the world. People don't wait to see what the person's soul looks like they just judge by their looks on the outside.
In To Kill A Mockingbird the jury in the courtroom during the accusation against Tom Robinson was very prejudice. They had heard all the evidence and all the statements about the case. Atticus and the judge wanted Mr. Robinson to win and they knew that Mr. Ewell and his daughter were trying to scam Mr. Robinson because Mr. Ewell's daughter was falling in love with Mr. Robinson.
