I'm A Lysosome!
Lysosomes are. . . . .
- organelles that contain digestive enzymes to digest macromolecules - found in both animal and plant cells but it is rare in plant cells - built in the Golgi apparatus - derived from the name from the Greek words lysis which means dissolution or destruction and soma which means bod - frequently nicknamed suicide-bags by cell biologists due to their role in autophagic cell death -dproducts of the discovery by the Belgian cytologist Christian de Duve in the 1950s.
