When the teacher read the fiction book, he loved itbut his mother hated it. He was so amused by the book. It made him feel like there was more than the life he knew.

He only read the stories in the newspapers. He didn't even realize what the papers were
Black Boy
He longs for fictional stories because they make him feel like he has purpose. He loved the fiction that books stored. They were off limits to him, so that made it that much more intense.
The fiction fascinated him because it didn't have to be real.
