Poe's Pit and the Pendulum
The Pit and the Pendulum movie recrunstruction.(part 1) Story read by Vincent Price. This recreation really shows the emotion put into the story.
Poe. Edgar Allen Poe is a legend of Pop Culture. Several of his works have been remade into movies, and his stories have been written in every language. Most of the beloved women he had known, died tragically.
''. . . candles upon the table. At first they wore the aspect of charity and seemed white, slender angels who would save me, but then, all at once, there came a moast deadly nausea over my spirit . . . while the angel forms became meaningless specters, with heads of flame, and I saw that from theme there would be no help.''
SYMBOLISM, IMAGRY, & FORSHADOWING Poe uses the candles to forshadow the character's fate and to represent an algorithmic theme.
''The Pit and the Pendulum'' draws on the period known as the Inquistion. The Inquisition refers to a time when Rome was testing its citizens' loyalty to the Catholic Church.
