The Hero Forced to go to a new school, miserable, and alone, 16 year-old star is thrown into the secret action packed world of heroism.. At a young age Star was kidnapped and left in a burning church, her troubled past leaves her untrusting, and fearful of the world below.The unwilling teen grows the wings of a butterfly in time of need or emergency. She hates the wings because she grows them at times when she becomes angry at certain people. The wings are incredibly hard to hide and the only person who knows her secret is her grandmother, who underwent the same metamorphesis the night of her 16th birthday. In Star's journey she eventually finds that she will need her wings for good, in order to fight evil.

The Hero's Journey Star's journey starts when she learns from her grandmother that the mysterious death of her grandfather was not so mysterious after all. Her grandfather's archnemisis, who is still at large, murdered her grandfather while she was in the burning church. His archnemisis, Michael, put Star in the burning church attempting to kill the two of them at the same time and now Star plans to avenge her grandfather's death while seeking revenge of her own. Along the way she finds that there are a lot more people with abilities similar to her own, such as her new partner comrade. Comrade has the ability to read minds so he was naturally drawn to her by her thoughts. Togethre they use their abilities to make connections with others of their kind, connections that give them clues as to where Michael is hiding. One clue they find through the stories they hear is that Michael also has the wings of a butterfly. Star then vowed to seek revenge by clipping his wings and burning them the way he tried to burn her. By the end of their journey, Comrade decides that it would be best for Star to exact her revenge on her own so he gave her a sword. A sword that has a gem embedded in the top of the blade that lights anything it contacts on fire, Comrade gave her this with the hope that Star's goal willl be achieved.
