Many scientists had come to study the pit. They had come to the conclusion that though the pit would not stop growing it atleast had slowed down. The civilians were somewhat relieved to hear this, but there were still many things for them to worry about. For example, they had no idea if the sinkhole would start up again , also the pit was so filled with water and mud there was almost no way to get there belongings back, and then there was also the new resident that decided to make the sinkhole his home.
What began as a 20 ft. hole in the groud soon became some thing much more serious. The hole grew up to 900 ft. across and 260 ft. deep., swallowing all around it. Barrels, tractors, even cars sank into the pit. Soon to be covered in thick mud resulting from the rain showers. The people of the area were terrified for the saftey of thierhomes and themselves. It seemed the sinkhole just wouldnt stop growing.
The new resident just happened to be an alligator. Since the pit was so filled with water and mud it came to resemble a swamp. As you can imagine, this was not a very calming sight for the surrounding population. Never-the-less, in the end they learned to live with the sinkhole, but they still had a small fear in the back of thier minds that the mostrous pit would act up again this time with much more catastrophic consequinces.
