New Zealand
EDUCATION -Students attend school for 11 years. (Compulsory) -Students ages 5-16 can attend. -After graduating from school, students can move on and go to college. Eventually, the people who attend college will get a job.
LOCATION -There are no neighboring countries because New Zealand is an island. -The most major landform is the Alps Mountains. -Major bodies of water are the Tasman Sea, the South Pacific Ocean, and Lake Taupo. -The capital city is Wellington and some major cities are Auckland, Christchurch, Dunedin, and Tauranga.
ARTS -A very unique visual art is Maori woodcarving. -Some literature is that there are many writers in New Zealand such as a famous poet named William Pember Reeves. -A piece of architecture is the “Beehive”, were New Zealand officials meet. -The national anthem is “God Defend New Zealand”. -The official languages are English and Maori.
RELIGION -The official religion is a form of Christian belief called Anglican. -This religion developed from the holy Church of England.
TECHNOLOGY & INNOVATION -Some major industries in New Zealand are dairy, crops, and manufacturing. -Downtown Auckland, like the business areas in other major New Zealand cities, has many very modern high rise office buildings.
GOVERNMENT -New Zealand has a parliamentary democracy. -Head of state is Queen Elizabeth. -The population is 4,076,140. -Became an independent country in 1852.
ECONOMY -The GDP is 101.8 billion. -The currency used is the New Zealand Dollar or Shillings.. -Major exports are dairy, meat, fish, wool, forestry products, and manufactures. -Major imports are machinery and equipment, vehicles and aircraft, petroleum, consumer goods, and plastics. -chief crops are wheat, barley, potatoes, fruits, and vegetables.
