One of the final remarks from Micheaux's film Within Our Gates.
Oscar's Star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
Oscar produced 43 films over his producing career. He produced all of these with all black crew and casts.
Oscar was a very important person during the time of the Harlem Renaissance. He gave other African-Americans a chance to share their art of acting. He also gave blacks across America entertainment that contained their own race giving a feeling of hope .
A common theme of many Micheaux films was the tensions between blacks and whites.
