Possible Causes of Steve's depression: early childhood trama, lonlieness, alchohol, drugs, health problems, family genetics, and lack of moral support
Treatment for Steve's Depression: Psychotherapy, Medication, Forgetting the past, Talking with friends and family, electroconvulsive therapy, one on one therapy, changing his situation, and finding new friends
Facts About Depression in the 1950's
DID YOU KNOW: Depression in the 1950's was divided into two types endogenous and neurotic Endogenous means the depression comes from the body, possibly genetic, or even come out of nowhere Neurotic comes from around the Environment ex. the death of a loved one, loss of your job etc. It seems steve would fall under the Neurotic Chategory

There are many signs in the book that link Steve to depression: Steve puts the blame of his brothers death on himself and is always sad whenever he thinks of what happened Throughout the book Steve drinks alot of alchohol to forget about his problems Usage of drugs and alchohol is a common method people use to deal with depression Later in the book steve tried to commit suicide but was saved by his friends. Suicide was most likely Steve's last option because he didnt like his life.
