Wicked Times
The Rebel Against Indulgences
A German Priest named Johann Tetzel set up a pulpit, or a raised area. This area was established on the outskirts of the town Wittenberg. The reason for doing this was so he could preach. He claimed that "purchase of the indulgences would assure the entrance into heaven not only of the purchasers but of their dead relatives as well." After hearing about this, an enraged Luther drew up his 95 Theses, or a list of arguments against the indulgences.
Me: Do you believe you were successful?
Luther: Yes. Yes I do.
Me: Were you outraged?
Luther: Indeed. He went against.
