The product that I decided to do research on was ''Sneakers''. The production company I wanted to know more about was Nike. Nike's main purpose is to make all different types of sports wear. They are best know for their sneaker production even though they offer a very different variety of clothing. Unffortunatley, with any big buisness, there comes a lot of controversy. There have been thousands of complaints about Nike employing people in countries where it's illegal to ask for better working conditions or to complain about wages. They have production centers everywhere you look. The major production centers are in Indonesia, Vietnam and China. Because employies are willing to work for so little, NIke
can produce shoes anywhere and still afford to ship it back to America without lossing a profit. Infact, it only cost Nike about 5 dollars to make a pair of 100 dollar shoes. This makes them so much money that they can still afford to pay proffesional athletes to wear Nike's supplies. This attracts many customers. Some people argue that organizations like these are great because they offer such a vast amount of job oppertunities. After doing some research I learned that the majority of jobs are just monitering machines in factories. As if that wasn't enough, the average wage for someone working in Indonesia is $2.45 a day!!! In Vietnam, $1.60!!! In China, $1.75.
Now im not saying people shouldn't buy from Nike (because even as im writing this I'm wearing a Nike shirt, shorts, and Nike Shoes) I'm just saying that maybe the wages should be raised a little bit for the starving workers in 3rd world countries

If I was to work for Nike it would not be a factory worker. I would be working somewhere in the Nike World Headquaters in Beaverton, Oregon I would probably be a Corporate CEO (Corporate Executive Officer). The average annual salary is $140,000 dollars. Top level potitions like these are usuall taken by people who have been promoted through the company. What I would basically have to do is finalize all of the major decisions. You also have to adress the stockholders on any major events. You usually have a pretty stable outlook because all you have to do is ''Not mess up''. I don't think that this job is very realistic to me. It's almost impossible to obtain this job in a major company because you normally have to have worked in the company for several years.
