There is a difference between scene and emo!
Scene:
Scene kids are kids who dress diverge away from the norm interms of how they dress. They tend to wear many different bright colors at one time, as well as many different patterns at one time. The style is much like that of japanese pop stars. Scene kids also listen to 'hardcor' music including screamo and death metal, but also will listen to pop rock, electronica, techno, and punk. Scene kids DO NOT SLIT THEIR WRISTS, but at times do creat scars for design purposes. Tattooing, branding and piercing are a big part of 'scene'. Scene kids are not depressed, but tend to be dramatic, dynamic, bold, loud, and out there. They tend to have a very sociable personality. Many scene kids have myspaces where they collect friends, comments, and picture comments. Scene kids are usually mistaken for emo by ignorant people who do not know what they are talking about. Scene is not about being yourself at all, its about conforming to a different norm away from the mass cultural norm!
Emo:
Emo is a shortened version of Emotional. These kids tend to dress in black with a single bright color thrown in. They tend to have black or white hair. Emo kids listen to depressing emotional music and they have their own music genre. Skinny jeans, tight sweatshirts, and converse are staples in the emo community. Emo kids tend to be very depressed, emotional and withdrawn. they tend to find friends in other 'Emo' people. They sometimes have myspaces with a few close friends and then a lot of people they never talk to. Contrary to what most people believe emo kids do not neccessarily slit their wrists or cut themselves. They do tend to have piecings though. A very important distinction of emo kids is that they do not openly call themselves emo EVER! An emo kid is an individualist or so they believe and to put a label on themselves would kill their whole outlook on life.
Does it really matter what stereo type you are percieved as? NO! Should you care how people see you? NO! Should it matter if you apear emo or scene? NO! Should you try and be a specific stereo type? NO! Do what you like! Dress how you want! Be friends with who you want to be friends with! Listen to the music you enjoy most! It doesn't matter what others want or if you aren't being the stereo type you want to be. None of that matters. Just be yourself! and if people care, if the world cares, then....Fuck The World!
