North Korea GET REAL Religion Religious activities are almost non-existent. Education Students attend school from ages 6-15. Everybody can attend Korean School’s. After school you go to college or a university. Arts Chinese styled art paintings are an example of common Visual Arts. Hyangga (short lyric poem, 6-12 lines long), Sijo (really short poem, 3 lines long), and History of the Three Kingdoms are common and famous examples of Literature. Famous and Common examples of Architecture are Sokkuram Grotto Shrine, and Sculptures of Animals. Chongak (music for common people) and Sogak (music for famous people) are common examples of Music. The official language for North Korea is Korean. There are no more languages in Korea. Location The neighboring countries of North Korea are China and South Korea. Some major landforms are Kangnam Mountains and Myohyang Mountains. Major rivers are the Changjin River and Imjin River. Five major cities are Pyongyang (capital), Sunan, Chonji, Hamhung, and Wonsan. Government Korea is a communist state. The leader of Korea is Kim Jong II. Korea’s population is 22,912,177. Korea became a free country May 1, 1948. Economy The GDP is 40.0 billion. Won is the currency. China, South Korea, and Japan are some of the major exports. Some major imports are China, Thailand, and Japan. Rice, corn, potatoes, and soybeans are some chief crops. Some of the livestock are cattle, chicken, goats, pigs, and sheep. Technology Major Industries in North Korea are armaments, machine building, electric power, chemicals, mining, metallurgy, and textiles. Some inventions and contributions are Pansori (Korean Operas) and Minhwa (paintings of everyday life).
