Liquid Crystal Dispays(LCD) work like this:On a color LCD display, each pixel is broken down into three subpixels. These subpixels are each a different color: red, blue or green. The different colors that you see on an LCD display are made by controlling the intensity of the light available to each red, green and blue subpixel. The way the light intensity is controlled is by twisted nmatic phase liquid crystals, they get their nambe becuase they are twisted in their natural state, but when you apply them to an electronic charge to a twisted nematic crystal, it untwists. Thus, the complexity making an image that's sharp and bright.
works like this:
Advantages: Image quality for LCD's are very sharp and bright, best for highly lit enviroments. It consumes considerably less electricty than other television types, and is flat and can be versatile in size.
Disadvantages: LCDs can have low response times. Pricing can be a lot more expensive than CRTs. They have a fized resolution and aspect ratio which limits the angles you can look at the television without having the brightness, contrast, gamma and color mixtures distort the image.
The cost for an LCD can be anywhere from $500 to $10,000, qhich is a very wide price range but it depends on size&brand.
