The pervasive and intrusive system in the German Democratic Republic to listen into the lives of other people by wiring their houses with microphones is shown in this chillingly haunting film, where a girl reports on her author lover to save herself, but one good man, a listener cum spy for the Republic, saves the famous author by removing incriminating evidence from his flat before the Secret police arrive. A must see German film.
