Black Death
The Black Death was one of the most deadly pandemics in history. Spread by fleas on rats, the plague killed an estimated 75-200 million people across the world. It took Europe nearly 100 years to fully recover from the devastation.
The name Black Death comes from the darkening on the extremeties before the infected subject dies. The plague was especially dangerous because of how easily it spread. Rats infested trade boats, and homes of many people giving them the disease.
The conditions in towns, cities, and houses were subpar, letting the disease thrive. The black death completly destroyed Europes economy. Due to the disease people were afraid to be out of the safety of their homes. This left merchants with large amounts of goods and no one to sell them to.
Due to all the death people couldnt properly bury bodies. Religious belief gave priority to helping dying people to leave the world peacefully. This type of direct contract helped the disease spread even more.
