National Person: Benjamin Franklin was one of the Committee of Five. The Committee of Five was the authors of the Declaration of Independence. The In December of 1776 Benjamin Franklin was sent to France as an ambassador. Benjamin stayed in France until 1785, during this time he got a very important military alliance with the French that probably saved the Americans during the war. He also became so popular in French society that it was popular for the rich to have paintings of him.
North Carolina Person: William Tryon was the governor in North Carolina between 1765 and 1771. He became governor trough family connections. He raised taxes to pay for his mansion. Stopped the rebellion he started for raising taxes. He then raised taxes even more because the militia had defeated the rebels and ended the rebellion. In 1771 he was not governor any longer and became the governor of New York 18 days after he left North Carolina.
Boston Tea Party: The Boston Tea Party was one of the acts that started the American Revolution. The Boston tea party was on December 16, 1773. It was direct protests against the British rule were 45 tons of tea was dropped into the Boston harbor. On three of the ships a lot of the tea was destroyed, but on the fourth ship whish had run aground. A small ship came and picked up its tea. This tea found its way into the people of Boston’s teapots.
Stamp Act: The British put the Stamp Act on the American Colonies, to pay for the French Indian War. The Stamp Act was a tax on all British paper goods, some examples are newspapers, books, etc. This greatly annoyed the American Colonists who often bought British Paper goods. American Colonists boycotted all British goods for a while and forced the British to revoke the tax.
