Invasion of Singapore
Japan decided to invade Malaya because it needed the valuable natural resources Malaya could provide to use in its Pacific War against the Allies . Less obviously, the Japanese were intending to end European domination of Asia, and they knew they must attack their strongest points first.
Background
Japan invaded Singapore because it was a strategic point in South East Asia. it was a hub for the distribution of oil throughout Asia, and it was a base that they could attack Indonesia
Why did Japan invade Singapore?
The Japanese also sought to eliminate those in Singapore who were supporting China in the Second Sino-Japanese War. the Chinese in Malaysia and Singapore had through financial and ecomonic means aid the Chinese defence against the Japanese
