Gold Rush: People were outraged to know there was gold for the taking in California. The first "get rich quick" scheme to break out in the U.S. People from all over the world including Americans, Europeans, Asians, and South Americans even made their way to California by various ways of transportation. The Gold Rush brought extreme change. Indians became hunted and the laws gave immigrants the right to capture and enslave any indian they could get their hands on.

Modern Gambling: Legal gambling spread from 2 to 48 states in the years between 1978 and 1998. Gambling became an addiction, and with this addiction formed other concerns such as alcohol abuse, depression, and suicidal tendencies becuase of how much money was lost durring this gambling addiction. From the 1960s to 1991 gambling had risen from 61% of Americans to 80% of all Americans with half a trillion dollars each year. Approximately 15 million Americans suffer today from "pathalogical" or addiction gambling.

Similarities: Some similarities between Modern day gambling and The Gold Rush are that they both caused alot of chaos and violence. Both 'Get Rick Quick' schemes were lonely hobbies and lonely lifestyles that caused severe depression.
