MANIFEST DESTINY
Manifest Destiny Due to the U.S. population growing very large, the American government had the goal of moving westward so that their people would have better lives. In order to move westward, they would have to deal with the Native Americans already there. The government decided that they had to move west, since they believed it was God's plan for them. These Natives were treated as savages by the Americans, and their lives were changing immensely. Those who rebelled would have died, and there were some who gave up their old lifestyle and began to live like the whites. To conclude, Manifest Destiny contributed to the decline of Native Americans because the Natives were forced to obey the laws of the American government. Many would die fighting or because of the poor ways they were treated.
The Americans saw emptiness in the west, but there were Native Americans living there.
The American government wanted to achieve this goal desperately. The Indians had to leave, and the Trail of Tears shows how the Natives were treated.
