Difficult Island Campaigns
The campaigns were the difficult battles the Americans fought on different Pacific Islands against the Japanese. The most important island campaigns included Guadalcanal, Tarawa, Saipan, Kwajalein, Iwo Jima, and Okinawa. The main point of island campaigning was to push back the Japanese to Japan, and to keep Australia from being taken over. Australia was key to the war in the Pacific.
