The Viking Gods Of Norse Mythology
ODIN
THOR
LOKI
Loki was a Trickster God, the son of Faurbati and Laufey. He was also a shape shifter. Loki was the most favourite God and assisted the rest of the Gods, he could also be trouble sometimes.
Odin, the King of Asgard, Ruler of Aesir, and Father of the Gods was also the Lord of War, Death and Knowledge. He loved to travel around the world, wearing a wide-brimmed hat so he wouldn't be recognized. He was often accompanied by his two ravens, Huginn and Muninn. Whenever in battle, Odin rode a Sleipnir, an eight legged horse.
Thor was the God of Thunder and the Sky. He was the son of Odin and Jord. Armed with his hammer, Mjollnir and not a very bright mind, Thor usually killed any living thing he came across. Loki often took advantage of this.
FREYA
Freya, the God of beauty, fertility and gold was also the Queen of the Valkyries. She was also a warrior and drove a chariot with two cats. Freya was the twin of Freyr.
BALDR
Baldr was the God of Peace, Light, Beauty and Happiness and was loved by everyone. He had the greatest ship ever built, Hringhorni and had a beautiful hall, Breidablik. Baldr was known most from the story of his death. Baldr used to have dreams that he would be killed. When Loki heard this, he gave a spear made of a magical plant to Baldr's twin brother, Hoor who threw it at Baldr.
I am interested in Viking Mythology because it is different to see that back when there was no scientific expanation for things, Vikings actually believed in stories based on these Gods. It is also interesting because Vikings actually lived on a daily basis on these Gods. They worshipped them and asked for advice before doing anything important such as before going on a journey. They also planned their journey based on the advice. I am interested in this because I can compare my life and how I make my important decisions to Viking's important decisions.
