Off to College I have successfully been accepted into the University of the Arts in Philadelphia. Though I am not entirely sure what I exactly want to do, I do know that I am considering a career in animation or illustration. I have been watching and drawing cartoons ever since I was young, and they are the best thing I can do, so that is why I'm considering this direction. Upon completion of FAFSA, we got it back saying the Expected Family Contribution, or EFC, was 6777. At the senior award ceremonies I got a check for $250 from the high school as a part of a High School Recognition Award. This will go towards that cost of school, speaking of which, the cost is $30,700 per year. Luckily I qualify for a Merit Scholarship worth $14,500 that I could reapply for each year. This almost cuts the original price in half. I am required to buy a Mac laptop that will cost about $2,400 and other materials for $115. The school materials will be mostly bought by my mother. But, the rest is something I am going to have to take care of. I went online and looked at a Stafford loan since that is the one I will most likely be applying for and I found that the monthly payments with a rate of 5.60% will be $1338.80 a month for 10 years, assuming that I don't receive any grants or scholarships at all. I don't forsee this being a problem. This isn't too bad of a price and there is still FAFSA to take into account. So with the extra aid I will be getting I will be able to afford this I believe.
