Solar Energy
How it works??
Solar energy, radiant light and heat from the Sun, has been harnessed by humans since ancient times using a range of ever-evolving technologies. Solar radiation, along with secondary solar-powered resources such as wind and wave power, hydroelectricity and biomass, account for most of the available renewable energy on Earth. Only a minuscule fraction of the available solar energy is used.
Advantages
Its cheep once you have set it up. The sun gives out heat, light and radient. Its also sustanable and enviroment friendly
Is it Renewable??
Yes it is as it comes from the sun and there is always sunlight (sometimes) except for yucky days!
Locations of where it is used in NZ
Disadvantages
Households are starting to install solar panels to use the heating from the sun.
Initial cost of setup equipment used to to catch the suns heat. Energy is only useful if the sun is out.
Why do you think we should/shouldnt use it??
Shouldn't: it costs a lot of money to install. And you need the sun to be out to use it. Should: its enviromentaly friendly and its natural.
