Deforestation
In the last 50 years or so people have become more aware of the environment. With this new movement, the idea of protecting our forests came about. Laws were made to protect against clear cutting and reforestation efforts were made to reforest clear cut areas. Laws were past so that with every tree cut down two more were to be planted in its place.

Deforestation prevention methods of the future
Today reforestation efforts, laws and movements help protect against deforestation. The new ''green'' movement has helped limit the toxins let into the air, thus helping to prevent acid rain which aslo kills many acres of forests. In addition, the movement has led people to to recylce more, limiting the amount of forests cut down to create land fills. Laws have also restricted deforestation and clearing for developemnt which allows forests to renew themselves.
In the future, countries who are not currently participating in the new ''green'' movement will hopefully reconize its importance and develope their own laws and regulations of forestry and help to bring back the forests.
From 2000 to 2005, USA China, Spain, Vietnam, Italy, Chile, Cuba, Bulgaria, France and Portugal were the top ten countries with the largest net forest growth.
From 2000 to 2005, Brazil, Indonesia, Sudan, Myanmar, Zambia, United Republic of Tanzania, Nigeria, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Zimbabwe, Venezuela were the top ten countries with the largest net forest loss.
