The Roles in History: 1. Commander-in-Chief 2. Chief Executive 3. Chief Diplomat 4. Chief of State 5. Chief Legislator
Chief Diplomat is the most important role for the present day. Today's nations are growing exponentially in size and power (due to technological advances, renewable/non-renewable resources etc.), and America must get along with them in order to make allies and stay a super power. For example, China was once a agricultural nation,, but now, they have the largest population and their technology is rapidly increasing. Also, the United States is infamous for our very negative, egotistical image; therefore, we must improve our image.
Commander in Chief was the most important role in history. The presidents in the past that had much public support were much more hands on during the wars. They played a larger role as a citizen. They established a much more personal relationship with the citizens and recieved much more respect. An example of this is the fact that many well respected generals were elected as presidents. They proved to the public their leadership skills and recieved much love. As commander-in-chief, they displayed to their nations their skills in decision making.
