Some people didn't know if the flappers were heroines or outcast with nothing better to do with their lives, or just trying to get attention (which succeeded)
1920's Flapper's were woman who rebelled, and acted "un-lady" like -some would say. They mostly danced to Jazz music late into the night.
They often cut their hair about to the jaw line, wore short dresses that were heavily beaded, applied large amounts of make-up., some wore scarf's made of silk or feathers, they usually wore satin tights, with high heels.
Flappers occasionlly smoked a long cigar, they wore cloche hats' (basically told everyone you had short hair), and their foot ware became more popular later on in the future, they sometimes consisted of sequins on the trim
Although alot of woman weren't flappers, they were still encouraged to enter the jazz comunity because of them.
Today the Flappers represent a big change in our society. Woman are wearing dresses that they decide is exceptable. Some of the dresses are similar to the Flappers.
