Sitar The sitar is perhaps the most well known musical instrument of India it was invented in the early 1700's by Amir Khusru during the mogul empire
Tabla The name 'tabla', probably derived from the Arabic word for a drum (generic), called the 'tabl'.Amir Khursuro invented the tabla by splitting the Pakawaj into two drums. It was invented in the18th century.During this time the instrument slowly became the primary drum for both classical and popular music of north India.

Veena The veena dates back to 500 B.C. when the first forms of the veena were created. the modern veena is invented by Govinda Dikshitar. The instrument can only be made by hand making the price very high.
Santoor The Santoor was invented by Pandit Shivkumar Sharma in the early 1900s. It is supposibly the instrument of the gods because of the bold but delicate sounds it makes.
Bansuri the Bansuri was another variety, ,played to propitiate Yama, the Lord of Death. Not only was it an important instrument in religious ceremonies, but the flutist was one of the victims of human sacrifice in Purushamedha yajna ritual." The Bansuri is said to be the instrument of love in india, because Krishna is one of them and is usually pictured with a flute. In one Indian myth, Radha, Krishna's lover, and the Gopis, (shepherdesses) are attracted by flute-playing.
Indian music was and still is made for the gods and it is a way to worship the gods. Most Indian pictures of gods they are always seen with an instrument. The god that I am named after is Hanuman, who is the god of war, who plays the Tablas. Basically I have learnt that religion is a major component in the daily life of an Indian. It affects everything from the tinniest decissions to our biggest choices we make in our lives.
