The Odyssey Comparason BY: Ethan Craig

The song ''Life of a Salesman'' is about a boy standing on the beach with his father.The song represents respect and faith in each another. The Odyssey can be resembled to this in the book, Penelope, because it is about Penelope's faith in Odysseus. Penelope still has faith that Odysseus will return even though twenty years have passed. In the song, the boy looks up to his father with respect and faith and those same emotions in that one memory have stayed with him many years.

The song ''Powder'' by Yellowcard is a song about addiction and how diffictult it is to quit something once you are already addicted. The Lotus Eaters are much like this while they are addicted to the Lotus flower and forget all previous hopes and quests. This song says that once addicted it is not only a want anymore, the body needs it, even if the person trys to stop. This addiction slowly ruins your life, this is the same with the lotus because you forget about returning home and seeing family.

The movie Hancock is about a superhero who is trying to prove himself to the world. We all have to prove ourselves during our lives for different things, and this is reflected in the book of the Odyssey, The Challenge. During, the Challange, Odysseus proves that he truly is Odysseus and he has the same strength as before. In Hancock, he starts out as a superhero who causes more problems than he fixes, but finally proves that he can be the savior that people are looking for. This is also true with Odysseus, who proves that he is the savior Penelope and the maids were looking for in order to rid themselves of the suitors.
