Bolivia's Climate: Due to the geography of Bolivia, the elevation varies between the east and the west and therefore so does the climate. On Bolivia's western border are the Andes Mountains, whose high elevation continue into an altiplano, or plateau, in Bolivia. Elevations here range between 3,000 and 4,000 meters. Because of the high altitude, the air is thin and the weather is cool. In Bolivia's capital, LaPaz, the average temperature in summer is in the seventies and around the fifties during winter. It often rains during the summer, but is usually sunny most of the year.
Bolivia's Climate Continued: The eastern half of Bolivia is much lower than the west, only around 300 to 500 meters above sea level. Here the temperatures are much warmer, it is much more humid, and rainfall is at a much higher level allowing for many rainforests.
