Sir Edmund Hillary
Sir Edmund Hillary was a New Zealand mountaineer and explorer. Before becoming a mountaineer and a explorer he was a beekeeper. He became the first human being to stand on Mt. Everest's summit along with a sherpa, Tenzing Norgay. Born on the 20th of July, 1919 Sir Edmund Hillary grew up to have 3 beautiful children. Sir Edmund Hillary was a devoted father and husband. He dedicated his time to the Himalayan Trust, which he founded. He helped build hospitals, schools and many homes. Climbing and reaching Mt. Everest's summit could have been his greatest achievement. However the journey up the mountain was extremely dangerous and life threatening. To have been able to reach the summit he had to work with his team mates and had to co-operate with each other in order to succeed.. He had to manage himself, communicate with each other, think and plan extremely carefully because one wrong decision could cost him his life or put his or other lives in danger. Many New Zealanders and other people all over the world look up to Sir Edmund Hillary. He was a true leader and an idol. He sadly passed on 11th January 2008. But he will still live on in our hearts, minds, and memories.
