Lent is the period of six weeks leading up to Easter, the most important festival in the Christian calendar. It starts on Ash Wednesday and finishes during Easter Week. It lasts a total of 40 days and 40 nights. This does not include Sundays.
The day before Lent starts is Shrove Tuesday, also known as Pancake Day. Traditionally, Christians gave up meat, fat, eggs and dairy products for Lent. This was the last chance to use up some of these foods before Lent began.
Holy week is a Christianity tradition. Holy week starts on the last Sunday before Easter Sunday. The days in Holy week are : Shrove Tuesday Ash Wednesday HOLY WEEK Palm Sunday Maunday Thursday Goof Friday
I think Lent is important to Christians today because it signifies when Jesus stayed in the desert for 40 days and 40 night and shows that people can give things up for a certain amount of time andi in the end it would be worth it.
