MY CSI
My CSI 2009 is a study of crime and the techniques used to solve them. In this unit we have studied the science of fingerprinting and autopsies, among other weird and wonderful things.
Fingerprinting No two people have the same fingerprints. There are 3 main classes of fingerprints- arch, whorl and loop. The earliest records of fingerprinting are by the ancient Chinese, who used fingerprints as a kind of seal for important documents.
Blood Blood can link a suspect to a crime scene, tool or person. Blood is composed of four main parts- plasma (the liquid), red blood cells, white blood cells (they help your body's immune system) and platelets (help clotting)
Evidence When a criminal attends or leaves a crime scene, he or she may leave traces of themselves behind. This traces can include tyre marks, handwriting, hair, bodiliy fuids such as blood or tool marks.
It is a forensic scientists responsibility to analyse evidence that may solve a crime. They decide what tests a piece may go under and in what order. An anthropologist studies dead bodies and can detertmine how and when he/she died.
