Iowa's State Motto
''Our Liberties We Prize, and Our Rights We Will Maintain.''
Iowa's state motto was made by a three-man senate committee. Our motto also is on our state flag. The motto makes it clear that the liberties of Iowa citizenry are very imortant and we are willing to defend them.
The Capital. Des Moines
Des Moines is the hub for government action., businies activity, and cultural affairs. It has a population of 456,000. Even though we have a big population, we are proud of our small town atmosphere.
Crops in Iowa
Iowa has many crops. Corn, hay, soybeans, oats christmas trees, fruits and vegetables, strawberry growers, and vinyards. The main crop though is corn. Iowa is the number one corn growing state in the U.S., producing 2.05 billion bushels a year.

Iowa's corn is growing rapidly faster than other states are.
Iowa has a lot of corn and the roses have a lot of thorns. Iowa is a big town but no one has a crown.
Iowa has grown big and we have a lot of big rigs. Iowa has a lot of cows and vistors say wow!
