Does Soil Act As A Filter?
Materials:
Procedure: 1)Get a 5oz. cup with holes on the bottom. 2)Fill the cup halfway with sand. 3)Put the 5oz. cup in the 3oz. cup with a toothpick between them for air. 4)Pour dirty water in the top cup. 5)Take the top cup off the bottom cup and see and record what happened to the dirty water using a color wheel. 6)Pour out the dirty water in the bottom cup. 7)Pour grape Kool-Aid into the top cup. 8)Get athe color wheel to see what color the Kool-Aid turned then record your observation. 9)Get another 5oz. cup with holes. 10)Poor the sand up to the width of your pointer finger. 11)Then add topsoil to the halfway point of the 5oz. cup. 12) Put the 5oz. cup into the 3oz.cup with a toothpick between the two cups. 13) Pour the dirty water and the Kool-Aid one at a time into the top cup. 14)Record what color they turn. 15)Do this with orange and blue water. 16) Do this several times too see if you get diffrent results.
