Vanadium
Silvery white, hard at room temperature. Used in color dyes. Also it is mixed with steel to make it harder. This mixture is used to make chrome car springs, wrenches and such. Some vanadium can also be used as an alternative to insulin.
First discovered in Spain by Andre Manuel del Rio in 1801. Then rediscovered in Sweden by Nils Sefstrom in 1830, who named it vanadium after the scandanavian goddess of beauty, Vanadis.
