Aesthetic is having the ability to notice, being able to respond to art around ourselves, and being able to notice art when it is not in plain words. As this is very relevant to our class due to the multiple activities; by participating in being a songwriter and making up a song of our own as well as the creation of our own wiki space. It is all a form of art which people living outside the box wouldn’t normally pick up on. As we also went to the Art Museum which was not filled to what I thought would be an art gallery with paintings everywhere, but low and behold there was no paintings but other types of art which one would have to look deeper within to see and notice, such as the fabrics. The quote which stood out to me like a sore thumb was, “Beauty is more than nice, more than pretty, more than the opposite of ugly….Beauty lives only in active collaboration between the thing and the perceiver. It requires that we come out and engage.” I liked it a lot as it basically describes art as being how one perceives it rather than what it actually looks like, kind of like the saying another persons trash, could be another persons treasure. It can mean one thing for one person but the complete opposite for another; it is the way in which the viewer views the piece of art.
