Linda Brown was a young African American girl who had to walk a whole mile to school, even though there was a 7 block school away from her house She had been denied the entrance to go in because of the color of her skin
The Brown family had been been a good middle class family that only wanted to enroll there 2 daughters in school. Like anyother white school they were rejectied because they were African American. The NAACP was not going to let this ahppen once more they had enough of ths. NAACP made a lawsuit atthe end th supreme Court had a unanimous and said that it was wrong but they couldn't do anything for the schools to change.
This is McKinleyBurnett school was where Brown had to walk her mile walk to arrive there!!
Brown v.s Board of Education
Chief Justice Earl Warren had declared that '' segregated schools are not equal and cannot be made equal and hence they are deprived of the equal protection laws.
The event took place in December 9, 1952 and then again it was Reargued on December 8, 1953. it took place in Kansas.
Brown vs the board of eductaion was a big argument between a school and the Brown's. Linda Brown was a young 3rd grade girl who was going to a school just for her kind of people which was the African Americanrace as they labeled it in the 1950's. The National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) was willing to help the Brown's and they did so much that the Brown's got some or most of the schools to get desegregated.
It was significant because it was a real big event . Even the NAACP had gotten involved. They helped the Brown's because they had enough of all the unfairness that was occuring with the segregation of schools. Any african american is equal to any other race in the world. This family, NAACP improved the way their race was looked at and got their children to go to any school they wanted to go to. Because they were like any other child in the world.
The Brown vs Board of Education was real important because if some one didn't stand up for themselves then how much longer would it be till someone does. And that is what the Brown's did they stood up to the those kind of people that did not believe that it would be right for African Americans to blend with the white Americans in there schools. This court event made it better for those that could not be with white americans even though they were equal to them.
