Did you know that there are many different types of telescopes? The main types of telescopes are Refractors, Newtonian reflectors, and Catadioptrics. They are used for the same purpose but they do it differently. When people think of telescopes for astronomy they think of refractors because it is so easy to useand reliable due to the simple design. It is great for looking at the different types of lunar, planetary, and binary stars. Newtonians is a telescope that's also known as catoptrics. This telescope is different than refractors and Catadioptrics telescopes because it has lowest per inch of aperture. This is because lenses are more expensive to produce than mirrors. Also newtonians deliver very bright images and are low in optical aberrations. Catadioptric telescopes are the most popular because of its modern design. Its good for looking at different planetary, lunar, and binary stars. This telescope is great for taking photos of deep sky observing or astrophotography with fast films or CCD's.
Who Invented The Telescope? Most people think that Galileo ivented it but he only introduced it geometry. The person that really invented it was Hans Lippershey arround the time 1608. By 1616 Zucchi had designed the first reflecting telescope but unfortunately it didn't work that well. Until Sir Isaac Newton had solved the problems by adding a small flat diagonal mirror.
The History of the Telescope
By Jaime Salicete
5 Discoveries Because of the Telescope. 1. Galileo observed the sun with his telescope and found that the sun had spots on it, which was lnow called sunspots. The moon has something similar on it . 2. Galileo also observed Jupiter and discovered its four largest Moons. Still today the moons are called Galilean moons of Jupiter. 3. Galileo discovered that the Earth is not in the middle of the universe but reloves around the Sun, which is in the center. 4.Galileo also discovered our Milky Way which is made up of many stars that is unable to see with the naked eye. 5. Galileo almost discovered Saturn's rings but his telescope was not efficient enought to make it out clearly.
