What they are made of and how they are formedIgneous rocks are made of cooled magma, or lava. Minerals melted inside the earth and exploded through a volcano. Then the lava cools to form igneous rocks.
Examples of Ingneous Rocks
This is the rock cycle. It shows how the 3 types of rocks are formed differently.
Lava moving slowly and cooling to be igneous rock.
Question:What will happen when we put each rock into water?
Hypothesis:I think they will be wet, but nothing will happen to them.
My thoughts:I thought that nothing would happen to the rocks. I was right with the metamorphic and igneous rocks, but not the sedimentary rocks. I think the sedimentary rocks are made of small pieces that can come apart in water, that is why the rock got smaller each day and there was little pieces of rock next to the sedimentary rock.
Data:Metamorphi rock: nothing happenedIgneous rock:nothing happenedSedimentary rock:Each day it got smaller. Little parts came off
