Asterix is a very famous French comic. As of 2009 there have been 34 Astrix comics, translated into over 100 different languages. Asterix was first created on the 29th of October 1959 and has been popular all over France, aswell as the rest of the world, ever since.
The stories are about a village of Gauls resisting Roman occupation, with the help of a magic potion. The story usualy takes them to different countries. Obelix is not aloud to drink the magic potion; as he fell in a whole cauldron as a child.
There is a very wide variety of characters in the Asterix series, but the main characters are: Asterix, Obelix and Dogmatix. Asterix has a yellow moustache, a big nose, and always wears a winged helmet, he is the hero of these comics. Obelix is large, with red pigtails and a red moustache; he is Asterix's best friend. Dogmatix is Obelix's loyal dog, he gets very upset if he is away from Obelix.
