Pete, is there more than one type of verb?
Of course George! There are three types: action verbs, linking verbs, and helping verbs. Pay attention . .
Information from: http://www.uvsc.edu/owl/info/pdf/grammar_usage/types%20of%20verbs.pdf
ACTION VERBS are either transitive or intransitive. Atransitive verb always has a noun that recieves the action of the verb. An intransitive verb never has a direct or indirect object. For example: Bill throws the ball. Throws is a transitive verb. Jessica runs down the street. Runs is an intransitive verb.
LINKING VERBS connect the subject of a sentence to a noun or adjective that describes it. For example: Ernest became an anstronaut.
HELPING VERBS are used before action or linking verbs to give additional information. Bill is going to the store. Is is the helping verb.
