Simple machines!!!
Lever: A lever is a simple machine that lifts objects. There are three kinds of levers: 1. First class 2. Second class 3. Third class Some examples of levers are the hammer, the jack (used to lift cars), and the shovel. Pulley: A pulley is related to the wheel and axle. A pulley lifts things two way with two types of pulleys: 1. Movable pulley 2. Fixed pulley Say your lifting a giant ball of cheese with weight of 500 lbs, with a movable pulley you only need 250 lbs of weight to lifts the cheese. If you use a fixed pulley, you need to use that 500 lbs of weight to lift the cheese. Inclined Plane: An inclined planeI is just a lever on an angle. This makes life easier by letting people with wheelchairs get somewhere. Some examples of inclined planes are ramps and wood (on an angle). Wedge: A wedge can split objects apart. Some examples of a wedge are an axe, a spear head, and a sword. Wheel and Axle: This simple machine is realated to the lever. The wheel and axle is used in a pulley. Some examples of wheel and axles are the wheel (duh) and the pulley. Screw: The screw is a pole with an inclined plane wrapped around it. A screw holds better than a nail because of the edges. Some examples of screws are a screw ( I repeat, duh), the corkscrew, and the screwdriver.
An awesome fact I learned was that the term lever is the frech word for to raise.
